Aurora Warms the Night – Training in Homelessness
Please join us for a very special Service Sunday taking place at Prairie on October 21st. After a shortened worship service, Brian Arnold from Aurora Warms the Night (AWTN) will be facilitating a volunteer training.
Over the past year, we’ve been honored to build a strong partnership with AWTN by assisting with two laundry days and hosting an inspirational picnic over the summer during which nearly half of Prairie turned up to serve lunch to people in need. As our justice work has brought us closer to our intention to accompany those in need; we’ve realized that we could use some training to become more effective in interaction with and in advocating for our community members who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Brian’s training is based on curriculum from Wings Aurora Homeless Advocacy, an organization committed to living out values of compassion, dignity, and respect for all people. We do this by uniting the community to be volunteer advocates for those moving out of homelessness and onto a path of healing. This training will prove helpful in all of our community work, including but not limited to service alongside AWTN.
Let’s Build On Our Relationship With AWTN
All are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend, to welcome our guest and to move our partnership forward.
