One Sunday a month, Prairie puts its principles into action by rather than having our traditional Sunday Service, we have Service Sunday. After a shortened Service, exploring how we can support the physical connection and self-care of those in our community, particularly those who have experienced homelessness, we will go to Ready to Work Aurora/Bridge House for card making and connection. Please see the details in the Justice League section below.
After our shortened worship service, we will travel to Bridge House/Ready to Work in Aurora for a day of holiday cheer (11:45 am – 2:00 pm) where we will prepare and serve food, and then engage in holiday card-making and music.
All families and friends of Prairie are invited to attend, as we encourage everyone, even our youngest community members, to work for justice. Please bring a dessert to share and sack lunch if you think you’ll need it! Click here to learn more about Service Sunday.
After fun times at Ready-to-Work, we will head over to the Tattered Cover Bookstore (2526 East Colfax Avenue) for the Journeys Out of Homelessness Book Signing and Reading. This conversation will touch on at least two of our justice initiatives: justice the homeless and for the chronically ill. In this book, the authors gather the first-person stories of some who have not only survived but thrived, going on to find positive home situations. Learn more here.
